چکیده

The Midlands and South -west of England are represented by a long oak tree -ring chronology spanning approximately 4500 -3900 BC (calibrated radiocarbon dates). The wood on which it is based originates in a technologically advanced trackway crossing the low -lying Somerset Levels, in a coastal submerged forest probably killed by rising sea -level, and in flood -plain oaks washed down the River Trent. Cross matching between the growth patterns of the three groups of trees is of good quality, yet so far the chronology has failed to cross -date with the long Irish and German dated chronologies. Genetic evidence for different male and female roles during cultural transitions in the British Isles.

Human history is punctuated by periods of rapid cultural change. Effect of Time and Amount of Supplemental Irrigation at Different Distances from Tree Trunks on Quantity and Quality of Rain-fed Fig Production

Supplemental irrigation under prolonged drought conditions has a key role in providing water for transpiration of rain-fed fig trees. The effect of different times and amounts of supplemental irrigation at different distances from the tree trunk on quantity and quality of Estahban rain-fed fig production was evaluated during two years. Assemblages of saproxylic beetles on large downed trunks of oak

Old living oaks (Quercus robur) are known as a very species-rich habitat for saproxylic beetles, but it is less clear to what extent such veteran trees differ from an even rarer feature: downed trunks of large oaks. In this study, we set out to sample this habitat, using window traps, with two aims: (1) to describe the variation of assemblages among downed trunks of different type and (2) to co...
